Our society has a big challenge to provide opportunities to everyone. It drove how I thought about myself and my role in the world. That was one of the most important developments in my life, because the quality of the education I received was significantly higher than the standard in the local schools. My younger sister and I came along at a time when Philadelphia’s social engineers were engaged in what they called school desegregation, an attempt to bus some Black children from the inner city to schools in white areas.
